Martin Hawkins

Rural Services Officer

Martin Hawkins joined ACRE in July 2008 as Rural Services Officer. His main roles include:

  • Supporting and developing a network of rural workers involved in facilitating the provision of specialist rural services
  • Contributing to ACRE’s policy work and monitoring policy developments that are likely to impact on rural services
  • Developing ACRE’s rural evidence base, through research and information sharing across the network
  • Communicating ACRE’s policies and the work of RCAN members externally

During 2007/08 Martin worked at the Commission for Rural Communities developing its child poverty work and a national network called the Rural Social Justice Coalition.  Before then Martin worked for a rural local authority, Cotswold District Council, in housing policy and research, which has been his major area of experience and professional qualification.

Martin’s outside interests are mainly sporting including tennis and swimming, which he tries to do as often as other commitments and weather allows.
