European Rural Parliament comes to Somerset

ACRE is working with two of its members, the Community Council for Somerset (CCS) and West of England Rural Network (WERN), to share learning and best practice with local people, community leaders, local government and academics from across Europe.

Water Detectives: Managing the water where you live.

Partners including FWAG, GRCC, ACRE and others are today launching the Community Guide to Your Water Environment. This guide demonstrates a decade of learning after the terrible floods of 2007 and provides detail, advice and case studies about how communities can launch their own natural flood management work.

Community-led action: Community-Led Housing

In this blog we consider the growing interest in a collective approach to delivering genuinely affordable housing in rural areas, through the provision of Community-Led Housing.

Neighbourhood Plans and getting the community involved.

The reason to look at Neighbourhood Plans in this blog is because this week is Rural Housing Week and it’s important to consider how communities can engage with and take on some of the responsibility of delivering housing, which is needed locally.

Thank-you volunteers everywhere

As Volunteers Week 2017 comes to a close, ACRE wanted to take the time to say one final THANK-YOU to all volunteers, who are making England’s rural communities such vibrant and cohesive places to live.

The power of working together

Staff at ACRE Network organisations identify funding, support volunteers and encourage partners to work together for the benefit of rural communities; they play an extremely valuable role and one to be celebrated during Volunteers Week.
