Funding ACRE is undertaking research to track the impact of the ending of Defra’s Rural Social and Community Programme funding at the end of March 2008. The inability to mainstream funding sources is expected to lead to widespread loss of local practitioner support for rural community action with consequential effect on local communities. Rural Communities Buildings researchDefra contracted Rural Partnerships to research funding for rural community buildings in partnership with rural stakeholders including 15 Rural Community Councils. The research focuses on issues around funding applications, looking at barriers to funding and success factors. It also examined the tangible and intangible benefits the facilities bring to local communities. The report was published in January 2007 and is available here
