Volunteers’ week is an opportunity for people to thank the tens of thousands of volunteers whose work behind the scenes in every community in the UK.
Following the release of the main political party’s General Election manifestos, Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) has published its ‘Election Asks’ highlighting the need for future Government Policy to be fully rural proofed.
ACRE has submitted a response which urges decision makers to ensure that the rural voice is heard and listened to, in respect of building in rural areas.
ACRE responds to the release of a new report from House of Lords Select Committee on Charities, called ‘Stronger charities for a stronger society’.
In January ACRE submitted a budget representation, urging the government to pledge £3 million in the Budget to refund the VAT paid by village halls.
The ACRE Network of specialist advisers for village halls and similar community buildings will hold their annual training event on 24th and 25th April in Birmingham.
Ofcom is particularly looking to sign up more people who live in rural areas in order find out more about the challenges they face.
Hall management committees, individuals and organisations with an interest in village halls are invited to sign up to the new National Village and Community Halls Network.
