This guide demonstrates a decade of learning after the terrible floods of 2007 and provides detail, advice and case studies about how communities can launch their own natural flood management work.

Rural areas risk becoming ‘enclaves of the affluent’ unless the Government acts on pressing issues including the lack of affordable housing and the impact of austerity on local services, according to a coalition of 12 leading national organisations.
Rural Housing Enablers (RHEs) work to secure affordable housing for local people in rural communities. This provides life changing opportunities for local families, and at the same time, helps to sustain rural communities by supporting local services such as schools, shops and pubs.
In this blog we consider the growing interest in a collective approach to delivering genuinely affordable housing in rural areas, through the provision of Community-Led Housing.
The reason to look at Neighbourhood Plans in this blog is because this week is Rural Housing Week and it’s important to consider how communities can engage with and take on some of the responsibility of delivering housing, which is needed locally.
