Guidance for reopening village halls which provide pre-school or nursery facilities

Some village halls which provide pre-school or nursery facilities may be encouraged to reopen for this purpose from 1 June 2020 according to recent government announcements on lifting Covid-19 restrictions. ACRE has been working with village halls advisers across England to understand what this means for these halls and how the committees that run them can prepare to safely reopen.

Our guidance sheet pulls together the most relevant and recent information published by government to outline the practical things village hall committees will need to put in place to keep volunteers and hall users safe such as new cleaning practices and undertaking risk assessments. The guidance includes a checklist as well as FAQs.

Village halls which do not provide pre-school or nursery facilities will not be expected to open in June, however we are working with our contacts in government to seek clarification on when this time will come and what halls committees will need to do to prepare.

ACRE Network Village Halls advisers will be on hand to explain and support village halls to reopen over the coming months. To find your nearest adviser, click here.
