Funding & Partners
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has invested more than £9m in ACRE and its Network in the past four years in recognition of our unique ability to engage with both national and local government and rural grassroots organisations and communities.
This supports our rural insight work, such as helping to shape and influence national and local policy by providing in-depth intelligence from our Network of rural community councils. The funding allows Network members to help communities find solutions to the challenges they face across themes including broadband, transport, services, the rural economy and housing.
Vitally, over the past three years, this investment has enabled the Network to lever in more than £33m of additional funding from other sources.
Big Lottery Fund
ACRE is the lead partner in a consortium to deliver the £1.39m second phase of the Big Lottery Fund Village SOS Learning, Outreach and Engagement Campaign.
Previously, ACRE was funded by the Big Lottery Fund BASIS programme which helped ensure that voluntary and community organisations throughout England had access to high quality support. ACRE received more than £1.8m over six years to invest in training and support for its Network.
ACRE was a main partner in the Foundation’s investment of more than £250,000 in the Over the Hill project to raise awareness of rural ageing and to encourage an active and informed approach to rural retirement.
