Parish councils tackling flooding

Together with colleagues at the National Association of Local Councils, ACRE supports communities to prepare for flooding.
A recent survey asked parish councils what information they needed in respect of planning for flood resilience.
The survey launched on 2 July 2025 and ran for eight weeks.
It was distributed to 43 county associations of local councils, and they were asked to forward to the parishes in their county.
ACRE and NALC received a total of 654 responses.
The following case studies are based on follow-up interviews with parishes who responded to the survey.
