Charity in memory of late Queen set up

to strengthen communities

8 May 2026

A new UK-wide charity has been launched to commemorate the 100th birthday of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Inspired by her belief that “everyone is our neighbour”, the Queen Elizabeth Trust will provide funding and targeted support to restore and sustain shared spaces across the country.

Developing and transforming underused buildings and green areas, as well as establishing a network of new neighbourhood hubs, will be among the new charity’s early priorities.

ACRE colleagues are currently exploring ways to engage with the trust, so that rural communities get a fair share of any funding that is made available.
