Podcast tackles plight of affordable rural homes
28 September 2026
One of the country’s largest social housing providers has used its regular podcast series to draw attention to the plight of affordable rural homes in England.
Max Banfield, ACRE’s RHE Programme Manager, discussed the issue with colleagues during a special guest appearance on Stonewater’s On the Air.
Joined by housing experts from Stonewater and the National Housing Federation, Max spoke about how rural house buyers are constantly being priced out of the towns and villages where they were raised.
As well as highlighting the challenges, Max used the podcast to pay tribute to ACRE’s network of rural housing enablers, and their work to deliver more affordable homes in the areas most in need.
The episode also reflects on the impact of Rural Housing Week, which took place in July, and how it helped bring the issue of affordable rural homes to the attention of a wider audience.
