Rural civil society – an ACRE perspective

Even with the most enlightened and well-resourced economic and environmental policies, there is a danger that villages could become pretty but unsustainable collections of houses set in a beautiful and bio-diverse landscape if there isn’t a strong civil society.

This briefing paper sets out ACRE’s view on the distinctive nature and importance of civil society in rural areas. We used this to respond to the review of civil society carried out by Danny Kruger MP in 2021.
