Village Halls Week is an annual and national campaign to celebrate rural community spaces and the people whose time and dedication keep them going. Organised by ACRE and the ACRE Network, the campaign runs from the 22nd January to the 28th each year and sees a huge variety of events happening across England. National Rural Touring Forum are celebrating Village Halls week by commissioning a poem by well-known UK Stand-up poet Kate Fox. Kate has written a piece amusingly encapsulating the breadth of events and happenings you might take part in during a week at your local Village Hall. She will premiere the poem by performing it live on BBC radio stations Monday 21st January and via NRTF website.

Wokingham Without Parish Council, working in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council and Places Leisure, is establishing a ‘fit for life’ fitness class for local residents over 55, with a focus on those who’ve not exercised before, or are trying to get back into fitness. There’s also a strong emphasis on promoting good mental health, with a social / interaction element, as the class will be followed by an opportunity for a tea / coffee and a healthy snack, and a chance to meet and get to know the other participants and make new friends.
